On Monday, October 18th, Attorney Rosina C. Stambaugh will be speaking at a Civil Rights Symposium held by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI). The symposium, being held virtually from 9:00 AM to 4:45 PM, will feature a panel of experts from various sectors such as the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, and the ACLU of Pennsylvania, all speaking on various civil rights issues that have been in the spotlight. This symposium is beneficial to lawyers of all levels because it will help ensure that they are in the know regarding relevant and pertinent civil rights issues.
Topics discussed will include Pennsylvania’s most noteworthy cases from the last year, immigration, gun control, disparities highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and more.
Ms. Stambaugh will be speaking regarding current hot topics in immigration, a topic which she has much experience in. She and her fellow panelists will focus on asylum, prosecutorial discretion, detention, and the current situation involving Afghanis.
Immigration and the need for immigration reform has been discussed frequently at the federal level, and has been approached differently by each presidential administration. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the issue, as asylum seekers and other people looking to move to the United States had a more difficult time because of travel bans. At her firm, Ms. Stambaugh handles issues such as removal defense, asylum, naturalization, visas, green cards, DACA, and more. The firm also handles “crimmigration” cases, which convene at the intersection of criminal law and immigration and require a great amount of care due to the sensitive nature of immigration issues, and deportation cases.
