Detained Individuals
What Should I Do If Someone I Know Was Arrested by Immigration?
Discovering someone you know has been arrested by Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) can be a terrifying and confusing process. The Law Office of Rosina C. Stambaugh will walk you through the entire process and help you through this difficult time. If you do not know where an individual is being held, you may be able to use the Detainee locator to locate him or her: https://locator.ice.gov/odls/#/search.
If the person is held at any facility in Pennsylvania or within the United States and needs legal assistance, The Law Office of Rosina C. Stambaugh can help. We can do a consultation with the person (also called a detainee) and assess his or her case.
Once we complete the consultation with the individual, we can determine if he or she qualifies to be released from ICE custody and/or a way to fight deportation to remain in the United States. Once we assess the case, we will contact you and explain what options are available and if your loved one can be released on bond.
Moshannon Valley Processing Center (MVPC)
The Moshannon Valley Processing Center is an immigration detention center located in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, and opened in 2021. It is a privately owned detention center that is contracted to house federal immigration detainees. Detainees housed at MVPC have their immigration proceedings heard by the Elizabeth, NJ immigration court. Hearings are currently being conducted by video.
Some individuals are eligible to be released from detention by requesting an immigration bond. If an individual receives a bond and is able to pay the bond, they can be picked up directly at the MVPC. If the detainee is not picked up from the facility, they will require a bus ticket departing Pittsburgh the next day at the Pittsburgh Intermodal Station/ Grant Street Transportation Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Bus ticket departure time needs to be after 12:00 p.m.

How do I Locate My Detained Loved One?
If you can not contact your loved one and fear they have been detained, you should immediately contact the US Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) detainee locator. You can use this tool to quickly locate what facility your loved one is being held in.
To expedite the process, you can use the detained individual’s A-number, the 7- or 9-digit identification assigned to the immigrant by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) when they apply for status.
You can also potentially locate your loved one with their name, birth date, and country of birth. Once you have determined their location, contact the facility to see about visitation and communication rules. If you have not done so, consider speaking to a qualified immigration lawyer who can assist with reconnecting with the detained individual.
How to Pay a Bail Bond for a Detainee
If a bond hearing has successfully resulted in your loved one being assigned a reasonable bond, you will need to undergo specific steps to pay the amount and secure their release.
